Evelyn Grace Merritt Scott, 88, of Danville, VA, died on Friday, May 3, 2019, at SOVAH Health of Danville, after a decline in health for the past year. Mrs. Scott was born in North Carolina, on November 26, 1930, a daughter of the late Walter Tilden Merritt and the late Lillian Strader Merritt Kellam. She lived all of her life in the Danville area where she retired from Red Lobster Restaurant.

In her spare time, she loved to draw, crochet, go bowling, and spend time with her many grandchildren. She was of the Baptist Faith. She was married to the love of her life, David Lee “Pete” Scott, who died on January 19, 1996.

Survivors include two sons, Steve Scott (Amanda), and Ricky Scott; a daughter, Cathy S. Bateman (Robbie); nine grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; a sister, Betty Gilliam; and a brother, Tommy Merritt. In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by a son, Michael David Scott; a daughter-in-law, Patti Scott; and a brother, Willie Merritt. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, May 7, 2019 at 2:00 PM at the Wrenn-Yeatts Westover Chapel conducted by Pastor Scott Randlett, Rev.

Dr. Doug Barber, and Pastor Mark Heffinger. Interment will follow in Danville Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday evening from 7:00-8:30 PM.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial donations be made to the Danville-Pittsylvania Cancer Association, 223 Riverview Dr., Suite J, Danville, VA, 24541.
