Evelyn Irene Thompson, 71, of Terre Haute, passed away Thursday May 17, 2018 at 6:08 am in her home surrounded by family. Evelyn was born December 20, 1946 in Terre Haute, Indiana to Harry and Virginia King Summers. She attended North Union United Methodist Church.

As a child she attended St. Benedicts Catholic School. She retired from Bemis after 32 years of service. She loved spending time with her family, traveling, being outdoors, fishing, bowling and Nascar.

She married her husband Barry, on December 21, 1992, and enjoyed 25 wonderful years of marriage. Evelyn and Barry had a truly special bond bringing out the best in each other. Evelyn is preceded in death by her parents, grandparents; George and Edith King, a son, Todd Scank, and a great great grandson, Gavin Scank.

She is survived by her husband, Barry, sons; Gus Scank Jr. (Tracey), Rick Scank (Joyce), and Patrick Harmless, daughters; Tracy Steiner (Mike), Tonya Garrison (Neil), and Natalie McMahan (Nick), a sister, Esther Anderson (Edwin), 14 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Cremation was chosen, with private services. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Hospice of the Wabash Valley.
