Everett Clayton McDonald Jr. born on August 21, 1930 in London, Kentucky passed away peacefully on October 27, 2018 at his home with his loving family by his side. Clayton made a profession of faith in the Lord Jesus Christ at an early age and was baptized at the Rocky Hill Baptist Church, Knoxville, Tn. He was a truly devoted husband, father, and brother.

After spending one year in the Army he was selected to be in the prestigious honor guard of General Douglas MacArthur stationed in Pyongyang, N. Korea. He later joined the U.S. Air Force in 1951 and was stationed in the Pentagon in Washington D.C. until 1953. He later joined the Tennessee National Guard retiring after 35 years of service with the 119th Tactical Control Squadron at the McGhee Tyson Air Force Base Alcoa, Tn.
He joined the Tennessee Highway Patrol in 1954 retiring in 1968 as a Lieutenant stationed in Chattanooga, Tn. After retiring he accepted a job with the Aluminum Company of America as the Chief of security retiring in 1992. He is preceded in death by his mother Nellie Mae “Brown” McDonald and father Everett Clayton McDonald Sr., sisters Julia Bertha Shepard, all of Louisville, Kentucky and Rosemary Sharp of the Norma community in Scott County, Tn.
He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 63 years, Elizabeth Ann (Patterson) McDonald, sons Don McDonald and his wife Debbie McDonald, Ron McDonald and his wife Teri McDonald, all of Maryville, Tn. Daughter Suzanne Phillips and her husband Mike Phillips of Franklin, Tn. Brothers Howard McDonald and wife Joy McDonald of Maryville, Tn.
, Robert “Bob” McDonald and wife Frieda McDonald of Lewisburg, Tn. , Miller “Buddy” McDonald and wife Faye McDonald of Oneida, Tn. , Sisters Genevieve Servey of Cedar Rapids, Ia.
, Grace Sampson of Louisville, Ky. , Barbara Ooten of West Jefferson, Oh. , Betty Adkins of Valdosta, Ga.
, and Anna Helmick of Louisville, Ky. He is also survived by four special grandchildren that he adored and loved with all his heart, Jenny Li Jarvis of Maryville, Tn. , Tommy Phillips and wife Amanda of Nashville, Tn.
, Christy McDonald and her fiancé Patrick Slavick of Alcoa, Tn. , Brandon McDonald and wife Brittany of Friendsville, Tn. , and last but certainly not least one great grandchild Brooks Clayton McDonald.
The family will receive family and friends on Tuesday, October 30 from 5:30 p.m., to 7:00 p.m., with funeral services starting at 7:00 P.M. with Dr. Mark Martin officiating at Smokey View Baptist Church located at 2201 W. Lamar Alexander Pkwy. Maryville, TN. The interment will be at the East Tennessee Veterans Cemetery in Knoxville, TN.
