Obituary for F. Richard Young II Frederick Richard Young II, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by his loving family, on Monday, April 9th, 2018. Richard was born December 28, 1939 in Charlotte, NC to Fred and Julia (Henry) Young. Richard graduated from Myers Park High School then attended UNC Chapel Hill, before graduating with his degree from Presbyterian College.

Throughout his life he was very active. He played golf and tennis competitively; and had a love of anything outdoors, especially deer hunting and fishing. He also loved cars and traveling.

Richard was probably best known as the president of Young Ford in Charlotte. He began working at his father’s dealership at 14 washing windows and stayed in the family business until he retired as president in 2005. As a business leader he was also deeply involved in the community.

He spent numerous hours volunteering at the homeless shelter in Monroe and was a prayer team leader on multiple missions’ trips with Weddington UMC. Richard was predeceased by his parents, 2 brothers and a sister. He is survived by his sister Margaret; his loving wife of 45 years Vicki; 6 children and their spouses; 13 grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations should be made to the charities that impacted Richard the most: Union County Community Shelter, www. unionshelter.org/donate/ or Weddington UMC Missions Fund, weddingtonchurch.org/ Visitation will be held Thursday, April 12, from 6-8PM at Heritage Funeral Home-Weddington Chapel and on Friday, April 13, from 11AM-12PM at Weddington UMC; with funeral service to follow at 12PM. The family will depart immediately after the service for a private family burial.
