Fern’s Obituary Fern Marie Castleberry, age 91, passed away on Thursday, January 24, 2019 in Wellington, Texas. Funeral services will be held at 2 PM on Wednesday, January 30, 2019 at the Calvary Baptist Church in Childress with Terry Williams, Pastor, officiating. Burial will follow in Childress Cemetery under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home.

Fern was born on December 9, 1927 in Childress, Texas to Martin N. and Annie B. (Angel) Smith. She was a graduate of Childress High School. She and Don Castleberry were married on December 6, 1952.

Fern was a hard worker and retired from Southwestern Bell Telephone after many years. After that she sold Avon. She loved to get dressed up, and wanted to make sure her shoes, outfit and makeup all coordinated together perfectly.

She was a loving and wonderful Aunt to her nieces and nephews. Fern was a Christian woman and a longtime member of the Calvary Baptist Church in Childress. She made every effort to attend services when she was able to.

She was a loving and giving person. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and brothers Marvin Smith, Jimmy Smith, and Kenneth Smith. Survivors include two sisters-in-law, Barbara Smith and Edna Mae Smith; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Calvary Baptist Church, 1606 Ave I NW, Childress, TX 79201.
