Mary’s Obituary On the evening of Wednesday, February 20, 2019, Mary Anna McClendon, age 95, went to be with the Lord in Abilene, Texas. Funeral services will be held at 2 pm on Saturday, February 23, 2019 at Calvary Baptist Church with Rev. Terry Williams, Pastor, officiating.

Burial will follow in the Arlie Loco Cemetery under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home. Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 PM on Friday, February 22, 2019 at Johnson Funeral Home. Mary Anna was born to Burlin and Jessie Bledsoe on October 5, 1923.

She married Vernon Leon McClendon on April 20, 1946. Mary Anna and Leon were long-time residents of Wellington, Texas. While residing there she worked at the Royal Park/Flair Fashions as a seamstress and at Wellington Nursing Home, along with raising 5 children of their own.

After the death of Leon, she moved to Childress, where she was an active member of Calvary Baptist Church, which she continued to do up until the time she could no longer attend due to her health. At that point, she moved to Abilene, Texas. She loved the Lord and her family.

She enjoyed her flower garden, gospel music, sewing and quilting. Mary Anna was preceded in death by her parents, husband, sister Virginia Maxwell, brother Billy Bledsoe, and two sons-in-law Jerry Hobbs and Clint Gibson. Survivors include son Kenneth McClendon and wife, Carol of Childress; daughter Linda Hobbs; daughter Judy Gibson; daughter Rhonda Scott and husband, Tony, all of Abilene; son Kevin McClendon and wife, Jolene of Salado; eight grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; twelve step great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.
