Mrs. Florence Johnson of Ogema, formerly of Kewaunee and Milwaukee, passed away Sunday afternoon, July 29, 2018, at the Aurora Medical Center in Grafton. She was 88 years old. Florence was born in Kewaunee on September 23, 1929, daughter of Ben and Florence (nee Swagel) Kleiman.

She attended local schools and graduated from Kewaunee High School before moving to Milwaukee. On May 20, 1961 Florence was united in marriage with Curtis Johnson. Curt preceded her in death in 2005. Toots loved to run the bar and take care of the customers; she had an outgoing, social personality and enjoyed taking good care of people. She had a deep love of animals that even included the black bears and deer that may find themselves in her yard.

Mrs. Johnson is survived by her son Anthony Verdegan of Slinger, grandchildren Neal (Shannon) Verdegan and Tracy Verdegan and great-granddaughter Taylor “Boo-Boo” Verdegan, all of Milwaukee. She is further survived by brother Tom (Linda) Kleiman of Kewaunee, sister-in-law Joan “Babe” Reimer of Green Bay, nieces, nephews, other family and many friends. She is preceded in death by her husband Curt, son David Verdegan, and brother Bernard “Benny” Kleiman.

A Gathering of Remembrance will be held at Perfect Pioneer Park Place in Ogema on October 6th from 1-4PM. If desired, memorials are suggested to local organizations that will continue sharing Toot’s love for the animals and trails in Northern Wisconsin.
