FLOYD MINTON, SR. was born August 8, 1929 in Indianola, MS to Wesley and Mamie Minton. He departed this life on Monday, December 24, 2018, at Meadow Brook Nursing Home, Bolingbrook, IL.

Floyd was educated in in Indianola, MS. Later he relocated to Michigan and there he enlisted in the U.S. Army. Later he moved to Joliet, Illinois where he met and married is first wife, Geraldine.

To this union they had eight children, Joyce, Patricia, Floyda Jean, Floyd, Jr., Wesley, Steve, Gregory and Kenny. Later he had another daughter, Ida. In 1979 Floyd married Mary Panola Mitchell and gained two step-daughters, Patricia and Rosalynn.

Floyd and Mary Panola raised their eleven children together. Floyd was a construction worker for many years. A faithful member of All Nations Church Of God In Christ, he served as the local Usher Board President as well as a member of William Roberts District and 3rd Jurisdiction of Illinois Usher Boards and on the Deacon Board until his health failed.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Wesley and Mammie Minton; his first wife Geraldine; and all of his siblings. Floyd leaves to cherish his life six daughters, Joyce, Patricia, Floyda Jean, Patricia (Willie) Smith, Rosalynn and Ida; five boys, Floyd, Jr., Wesley, Steve, Gregory and Kenny (Ora); a host of grand and great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and friends. Interment at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery.
