Warren G. Martin, age 95, passed away peacefully on Thursday, December 20, 2018. Warren is survived by his loving daughter, Deidre Martin; grandchild, Ashlei Edwards; great-grandchildren, Kingston and Princeton; siblings, Gladys Wells, Ruben Martin, Ruth (Jim) Stevens, Curtis Martin Jr., Louise Everett, Arnold Martin, Florence Anthony, Ronald Martin, Peggy Abernathy, and Henry Martin; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by his beloved wife, Christine Martin; parents, Curtis and Ruby Martin; and brother, John Martin.

Warren was born and raised in McComb, Mississippi. He served his country honorably during World War II as a member of the Tuskegee Airmen in the United States Army Airforce and fought bravely at the Battle of the Bulge. After the war, Warren studied at Heidelberg University.

Once he returned home, he moved to Joliet, Illinois where he obtained a gold card as a master bricklayer in the Bricklayers Union. Warren retired from the union after 50 years of service. During his retirement, he enjoyed driving his truck and playing cards.

He will be dearly missed by all who knew him. A celebration of Warren’s life will begin on Monday, December 24, 2018 with a visitation at Tezak Funeral Home, 1211 Plainfield Road, Joliet from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. Interment to follow at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery.
