Hunt, 98, of Hutchinson, died March 15, 2019, at Hester Care Center, Hutchinson. She was born November 1, 1920, at the family home, in Tulia, TX, to Burley Burton ‘B. B.’ and Amanda (Sanders) Burrow.

Fontella graduated from Tulia High School and Texas Tech with a Bachelor’s Degree in Home Economics. She was a fifth and sixth grade teacher in Tulia, and taught sixth grade at Faris Elementary School in Hutchinson. Fontella’s favorite subject to teach was math.

She also enjoyed playing golf and various games. Fontella especially enjoyed playing bridge and Bingo, which were offered by Wesley Towers. She was a devoted and loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.

Fontella especially loved becoming a grandma to her four grandchildren, and spending as much time as she could with them. She was a member of PEO Chapter HP and a former member of First Baptist Church, Hutchinson. On November 5, 1943, she married Walter H. Hunt in San Antonio, TX.

They shared 70 years of marriage before his death January 6, 2014. Fontella is survived by: daughters, Sharon Bauer and husband Kent of Wichita, Linda Showers and husband Glenn of Normangee, TX; sisters, Lola Sanderson of Lubbock, TX, Helen LaDuke of Amarillo, TX; grandchildren, Scott Showers and wife Beth Ann, Lucas Showers and wife Christy, David Ricksecker and wife Cara, Amy Tamimi and husband Al; and twelve great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by: her parents; two brothers; and four sisters.

Funeral service will be 1:30 p.m. Monday, March 18, 2019, at Elliott Chapel, with grandson, Pastor Scott Showers officiating. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery, Hutchinson. Friends may call from 1 to 8 p.m. with the family present from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday, at Elliott Mortuary.
