Frances Evelyn Michael, 90, of Grantsville, MD, died Thursday, May 9, 2019, at Goodwill Mennonite Home, Grantsville. Born March 12, 1929, in Cumberland, MD, she was the daughter of the late Harry and Lulu (Warnick) Miller. She was also preceded in death by one brother, Mark Warnick Miller; and two sisters, Helen Dixon and Rose Monahan.

Mrs. Michael was a teacher’s aide at the Grantsville Elementary School for 25 years. She was a member of the former St. John’s United Church of Christ and the Mars Hill Homemakers Club. She loved her family, young and old, and her pink flower garden.

Frances loved to bake and wouldn’t let you leave her house without a bag of cookies. She is survived by her husband, James Edgar Michael, whom she married on April 16, 1948; one son, James O. Michael, Walkersville, MD: one daughter, Patricia Zimmerman, Grantsville; eight grandchildren, Michael (Jen) Zimmerman, Mark Zimmerman, Megan (Matt Muzza) Zimmerman, Rachel (Nate) TeWinkel, Nathan, Evelyn, Jan and Vivian Michael; four great-grandchildren, Kelvin, Noah, Madelyn and Kaylee. Friends will be received at the Newman Funeral Homes, P.A., 179 Miller St., Grantsville, on Saturday, May 11, 2019, from 3-6 p.m. A funeral service will follow in the funeral home at 6:00 p.m. with the Rev.

Dr. Alexa Smith officiating. Interment will be in the Grantsville Cemetery. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.
