Obituary for Francis C. Armstrong Hampton – Francis C. “Frank” Armstrong, 78, of Hampton, formerly of Salem, passed away peacefully after a brief illness on Thursday, September 20, 2018 at High Pointe Hospice House in Haverhill, MA. Frank was surrounded by his loving family. He was born August 21, 1940 in Berlin, a son of the late Charles and Albertine (Ruel) Armstrong.

Frank graduated from Plymouth Regional High School, attended Lowell Technological Institute, Lowell, MA and received a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration from Merrimack College, North Andover, MA. He was a veteran serving as 4th Class Army Security Specialist with the US Army and the Army Reserves and spent 18 months overseas in Ankara, Turkey. He held a 22-year tenure with Jackson Lumber Company in Lawrence, MA, working his way to vice president of purchasing.

He retired from Doyle Lumber Company in Andover, serving for several years as purchasing manager. Frank was young at heart and could light up a room with his dimpled smile. He had a passion for all types of music and enjoyed dancing.

He loved fitness and was admired for his strength and ingenuity. He enjoyed living by the ocean, and Newfound Lake held a special place in his heart. Frank was an enthusiastic sports fan, who intensely followed New England teams.

He was always willing to help friends and neighbors, and shared his talent for building and construction as he did so. He was unofficially known as the “mayor” of Seaview Avenue in Hampton and will be greatly missed by those who knew him. He leaves four daughters, Katherine Doonan (Sean) of Chelmsford, MA, Christine Anthony (Mark) of Mesa, AZ, Carol Armstrong of Manchester, Mare Weiss (Otto) of Acton, MA, seven grandchildren, Caitlin, Erin, Dylan, Trey, Zachery, Oliver and Felix, his sister, Barbara Asher of Morrisville, NC, the mother of his children, Elaine Armstrong of Salem, and several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his siblings Norman Armstrong, Leona Armstrong and Pauline Tatham. Visiting hours will be held from 5-8 P.M. Wednesday, September 26, 2018 at the Remick & Gendron Funeral Home-Crematory, 811 Lafayette Road, Hampton. A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 A.M. Thursday, September 27, 2018 at Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal Church, 289 Lafayette Road, Hampton.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited. After cremation burial will be in the Plymouth Cemetery, Plymouth. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Massachusetts General Hospital Cancer Center, 55 Fruit Street, Boston, MA 02114.
