Frank E. Stewart, 85, of Murphysboro, passed away at 6:40 a.m. on Tuesday, September 11, 2018, in Carbondale. Frank was born in Murphysboro on February 16, 1933, a son to the late William and Pauline M. (Brumley) Stewart Batteau. Frank was a member of the Murphysboro United Methodist Church and was a U.S. Army veteran serving during the Korean War.

He was the retired owner and operator of Stewart Auto Body in Murphysboro, was a member of V.F.W. 7190 and the American Legion Paul Stout Post 127 both of Murphysboro, and was a former member of the Murphysboro Kiwanis Club. After he retired from Stewart Auto Body he was a school bus driver for Murphysboro schools. Funeral services will be at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, September 14, 2018, at Crawshaw Funeral Home in Murphysboro; Rev.

Larry Gilbert of the Murphysboro United Methodist Church will officiate. Entombment will follow at Pleasant Grove Memorial Park with military rites by American Legion Paul Stout Post 127. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until the hour of services on Friday at the funeral home.

Memorials are the preferred form of remembrance and may be made to Residential Hospice or to the Murphysboro United Methodist Church. Survivors include one daughter, Kim Arnold of Marion, IL; one son and daughter-in-law, Craig and Tracy Stewart of Murphysboro; five grandchildren, Jessica Arnold (Evan) Taylor, Jarrod Arnold, Jordan Arnold, Maggie Stewart, and Jacob (Audrey Vaughn) Stewart; two sisters and one brother-in-law, Shirley and George Frost of Murphysboro, and Mary Ellen Pierson all of Murphysboro; one brother and sister-in-law, Jim and Sheila Stewart of Murphysboro, and two great-granddaughters, Macyn and Olivia Taylor. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother William Stewart and one sister Paula Kay Huppert and two infant sisters Wanda and Pauline Stewart.
