Frank C. Francis Jr, 70, of Gloucester, husband of Janice R. (Lovasco) Francis, passed away on Friday, December 14, 2018 in the Kaplan Family Hospice House in Danvers, MA, with his loving family at his side. Frank was born in Gloucester, MA on November 26, 1948, the son of the late Frank C. and Catherine G. (Bammarito) Francis. He graduated from Gloucester High School with the Class of 1966 and attended North Shore Community College.

Frank joined the U.S. Army and served proudly during the Vietnam War receiving the service medal, campaign ribbon W/60 device, one overseas bar, National Defense medal, sharpshooter badge M-16 and marksman badge 45 cal pistol. He also served as a military policeman. Back at home he enjoyed his yard and tending to his gardens as well as walking the boulevard with his grandchildren while watching the boats and catching crabs.

Frank loved listening to rock music, with The Beatles being his favorite band, and was a big fan of J.R.R. Tolkien’s The Lord Of The Rings. His home was always elaborately decorated for the holidays, with Christmas being his favorite. For the past twenty years, Janice and he had a timeshare in Aruba and they spent quality time in the tropical paradise.

He will be lovingly missed by his family and friends. He is survived by his wife Janice, with whom he shared 43 years of marriage, a son Frank C. Francis III and his wife Julianne of Salem, NH; his grandchildren Ryan James Francis and Samuel Andrew Francis, a sister Joanna McCall and her husband Wesley of St. George Island, FL and many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. He was predeceased by his parents as well as his oldest childhood friend and sister-in-law, Mary (Hemmer) Lovasco.

His visiting hours will be in the Greely Funeral Home, 212 Washington St. Gloucester on Wednesday, December 19 from 5-7 p.m. Family and friends are cordially invited. His funeral will be held from the Greely Funeral Home on Thursday, December 20, at 8:45 a.m. followed by his mass being celebrated in Our Lady of Good Voyage Church, Prospect St. Gloucester at 9:30 a.m. Burial will take place in Calvary Cemetery, Gloucester. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in his memory to: The Jimmy Fund, Box 849168, Boston, MA 02284-9168 or Kaplan Family Hospice House, 78 Liberty St. Danvers, MA 01923.
