Obituary for Franklyn “Frank” Deininger Franklyn R. Deininger, 82, of Kenosha, passed away on Friday, July 20, 2018, surrounded by his loving family after a courageous fight against brain cancer. Born on April 2, 1936, in Monroe, WI, to Frank and Ema (Zuercher) Deininger. Frank grew up in Green County, WI, attending local schools and graduated from Monroe High School, where he met the love of his life, Colleen (Seffrood) Deininger.
After being honorably discharged from the United States Air Force in 1958, Frank graduated from Madison Business College in 1961. Frank & Colleen were married on July 27, 1957 and began a 60 year journey that was never dull. Frank worked as an accountant before founding Deininger & Co., Inc. in 1965.
He dedicated his career to minimizing his and his clients’ tax liabilities and was enrolled to practice before the Internal Revenue Service. He earned the Certified Financial Planner designation – along with several other professional designations -during the course of a career that spanned over 50 years. Frank was a past chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Kenosha Elks Club, 50-year member and past president of the Kiwanis Club of Western Kenosha, and a 50-year member of the Kenosha Country Club, as well as an active member of several other local business organizations.
Frank was always on Colleen’s side and the two of them not only raised 5 children, they fought for women’s rights in the community and were supporters of many worthy causes. Frank taught us where the line was and wasn’t shy about letting us know when we crossed it. He was also the first call we made when we got in trouble and we will miss his invaluable advice.
Frank enjoyed traveling with us in our red shirts and took many trips with Colleen to Central and South America, Mexico, Europe, and Australia, often accompanied by several grandchildren. Frank was a lifelong Saint Louis Cardinals fan and enjoyed explaining the rules of the game to Colleen during the most exciting Green Bay Packer games! He spent many Friday mornings with various grandchildren participating in the Junior Golf Program and loved watching them accept their trophies at the end of the season.
We will miss our Dad for the rest of our days but take comfort in knowing that he is with his Darling Colleen. Frank will be sadly missed by his family, including his four children, Cheryl Deininger, Calla (Joseph) Ricciardi, Michael Deininger (Amanda Guerrero), and Curt (Becky) Deininger; eight grandchildren, Lindsey (Eric) Huberty, CJ (Emily) Ricciardi, Amy Ricciardi, Tony Ricciardi, Michelle Deininger, John Deininger, Jake Deininger and Samantha Deininger; three great-grandchildren, Daniel Huberty, Jonathan Huberty and Tazlynn Deininger; three sisters-in-law, Vicki (Howard) Moore, whom he considered a daughter, Sharon Clark and Rita (Bill) Reid; Vicki’s children, Cody Moore and Kathren Moore; and many other nieces and nephews. Frank was preceded in death by his parents; brother-in-law, Roger Seffrood; sister-in-law, Joanne Seffrood; and brother-in-law, Kenneth Clark.
Frank’s wife, Colleen, daughter Lisa, and grandchildren Emma and Alex Dickman tragically predeceased him in a plane crash on June 10, 2018. A visitation with the family will be held on Tuesday, July 24th, from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00p.m. at Proko Funeral Home. A funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, at St. Therese of Lisieux Catholic Church, 2020 91st Street, at 10:00 a.m. Entombment will follow with full military honors at All Saints Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate memorials to Calla Ricciardi to be used to fund the Colleen Deininger aviation scholarship for female pilots or to Hospice Alliance of Kenosha County.
