Franz Edward’s Obituary Mr. Franz Edward Silas, Jr., 80, died Tuesday, May 21, 2019 at his home. Mr. Silas was born February 26, 1939 in Ocala, FL, a son of the late Franz Edward Silas, Sr. and the late Irma Knobloch Silas. He attended Andrew Jackson High School in Jacksonville, FL.

Mr. Silas enlisted in the US Marine Corps in 1956 and retired in 1979 as a Master Gunnery Sergeant. He served two 13-month tours in Vietnam as a Helicopter Crew Chief. After his retirement from the Marines her worked for Sikorsky Aircraft Corporation for 24 years, where he completed his assignment at HMX-1, the Presidential Helicopter Squadron, Quantico, VA.

Surviving Mr. Silas are: his Wife: Evelyn Harrelson Silas, whom he married in June 1963, of the home; his Son: Franz Edward “Slick” (Kimberly) Silas, III; his Grandsons: Lester William “Billy” (Nicole) Hall and Wesley Franz Silas; his Great Grandchildren: Abigail Lynn Powers, Jacob Wade Hall and Ainsley Mae Hall; a Brother: Grover Norris (Nancy) Silas; and a Sister: Linda Sue (Deanna) Silas. Mrs. Silas was predeceased by a daughter, Cynthia Silas Hall. Cox-Collins Funeral Home is assisting the family of Mr. Silas.
