Obituary Mr. Fred McGirt, 75, of 101 Riley Circle, Lumberton, NC was born on March 2, 1943 to the late Mr. Marvin McGirt and Mrs. Sophronie McGirt. Fred left to be with the Lord on Thursday May 24, 2018 at home. He was preceded in death by one brother, and four sisters; one son, Jeffrey Todd McGirt and one daughter, Ann Marie McGirt.

Mr. Fred is survived by his wife, Ms. Sally Jane McGirt of the home; one brother and four sisters; three daughters, Melissa Jane McGirt, Sharen Jeannie McGirt and Rebecca Lynn McGirt all of Lumberton; one son Freddie McGirt of St. Pauls; a host of grandchildren: Justina Marie McGirt, Shanora Ann Greer, Shannon Jeannie McGirt, Brittany Marie Taylor, Lashonda Tapley, Dustin Todd McGirt, Fredrick Todd Locklear, Gary Wayne Hunt, Jr., Jeffrey Todd McGirt, II, O’Bryan Locklear, Cody McGirt and David Locklear; seven great-grandchildren; one special nephew, Travis Hammonds; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Fred was loved by many! He was known for his kindness and love he showed toward others.

Fred was a very active and hardworking individual. He loved working in his garden and doing thing around the yard. There was nothing he could not fix!

He worked at Converse for 25 years and the Board of Education for many years until his retirement. He had a smile that would light up the world. That smile will surely be missed.
