Garry C. Carmichael, 70, of Silvis, died Sunday, July 29, 2018, at Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House, Bettendorf. Cremation rites will take place and Celebration of Life Services will begin at 4 p.m., Tuesday, August 7, 2018, at Racer’s Edge, 936 15th Avenue, East Moline. Garry was born on October 25, 1947, in Unionville, Missouri, the son of Virgil Clyde and Barbara Ruth (Valentine) Carmichael.

He married Leota Jaynes on October 1, 1989, in Davenport. She preceded him in death on November 2, 2009. Garry had worked as a welder at Case IH, retiring in 2000.

He was a Veteran, serving with the U.S. Navy. He enjoyed restoring cars and racing with his son. Garry also enjoyed fishing.

Survivors include his sons, Todd (Tracy) Malmstrom, Hampton, Tim Malmstrom, Silvis, and Troy (Amy) Malmstrom, Silvis. Grandchildren, Ashlea, Zachery, Macey, Mackenzie, Hannah and Nolan Malmstrom; Great grandson, Lucas Dunbar; nephews, Randy, Jr., Jason, and Jon Carmichael. He was preceded in death by his wife, parents, and brother, Randy, Sr. Memories may be shared on the tribute wall.
