Gary A. Fonner,60, after a fierce and courageous battle with cancer, Died on June 10, 2018. Gary passed in his home in East Liverpool, OH, surrounded by friends and family and his wife holding his hand. He leaves behind his wife Debbie, his son, Doug Fonner (wife Beth), his daughter, Christina, grandchildren, Addy, Calix and Emmett; brother, Terry; sister, Cindy; and his mother-in-law, Dolly, whom he was very close to, as well as 10 nieces and nephews.

Gary was born May 27, 1958, in Wheeling, WV, to Richard and Mary Katherine. He grew up in Wheeling West Virginia with his twin, Terry and his sister, Cindy. In college, Gary studied music and played music most of his life.

That is where he met and married his college sweetheart, Debbie. They first settled in Warwood and moved to Columbiana County after Debbie got her job teaching with Lisbon School District. Gary worked construction for 30 years.

Gary remained dedicated to fighting cancer from day one. He remained a brave, iron-willed man, even throughout his final challenges. Whenever the doctors offered him an option to extend his life no matter the personal pain and effort, he would not hesitate and say let’s get it done.

“Still Unbroken”. Gary’s request was to be cremated. His brother-in-law Rob Hunt will remember and celebrate his life on Friday at 3:30, June 15, 2018, at the Arner Funeral Chapel in Chester, where friends can visit from 1-3:30 PM.

And the West Point Fire Department will honor Gary’s many years of service. A reception will follow the service at St. Agatha’s Church in West point; all are welcome. The Family would especially like to thank their wonderful families, Community Hospice, Rick Robinson, Dean Barnard and all those that supported them during this long fight.
