Gary’s Obituary Gary Duane Ladwig, Sr., age 80 of Shawano passed away on Tuesday, February 12, 2019. He was born on May 10, 1938 in Tigerton, son of the late Alfred and Lilly (Marquardt) Ladwig. Gary spent his childhood in Bowler, and graduated from Bowler High School.

He married Georgetta McFarlane on June 25, 1960 at St. Matthews Lutheran Church in Bowler. They lived in Bowler and farmed from 1961 until 1972, before moving to Tilleda. Gary later owned and operated Ladwig Fish and Meats.

In 1982, the couple moved to Oshkosh where they started L&M Plastics. After Gary’s divorce in 1987, he met Diane Buettner and the couple was married on October 14, 1989. They resided in Shawano and Gary was employed by Shawano Kiln Company until his retirement.

Gary loved to hunt and fish with his children and grandchildren. He also enjoyed gardening and traveling. He was a wonderful husband and father and will be deeply missed.

Gary is survived by: his wife, Diane of Shawano; five children, Gary (Michelle) Ladwig, Jr., Kay (Jessica) Ladwig, Lori (Bob) Boris, Jenny Maltbey, and James (Jenny) Maltbey; grandchildren, Connor Ladwig, Emma Ladwig, Danielle (Joey) McElwee, Jenna Peterson, Derek Peterson, Zachary Graf, Justin (Penny) Zwirschitz, Amy (Nick) Hoppa, Joshua Johnson, Dakota Maltbey and Roman Hohn, Jr He is further survived by numerous great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He is preceded in death by: his parents, Alfred and Lilly; former wife, Georgetta; his siblings, Norman Ladwig, Doloris Moss, Janette Prokash, James Ladwig and Alan Ladwig.

Funeral services for Gary will be held at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 16, 2019 at Swedberg Funeral Home in Shawano with Rev. Clifford Kessen officiating. Visitation will be held on Saturday at the funeral home from 4:00 p.m. until the time of the service.
