Gary’s Obituary Gary Dean Eberhard, Sr. age 80, of Shawano, passed away at home on Tuesday, March 19, 2019. Born on October 4, 1938 in Neenah, Wisconsin, he is the son of the late Harry and Laurel (Little) Eberhard. Gary graduated from high school in Appleton and worked in the local paper mills briefly before enrolling in the Wisconsin State Patrol Academy in 1965.

He began his career with the Wisconsin State Patrol in 1966 in Dodge County. He later worked in Racine and Kenosha counties before moving to Shawano County. On April 30, 1982 he was united in holy matrimony to Margaret “Marge” Ward in Shawano.

In 1996 Gary retired from Wisconsin State Patrol, Shawano County. He enjoyed working with the other law enforcement personnel in Shawano and Menominee Counties over the years. Gary loved spending time with Marge at their cabin in Michigan, fishing for walleye in Canada, deer hunting, Friday night fish dinners, and spending time with his family.

Gary is survived by: his loving wife of 37 years, Margaret of Shawano; his children, Cynthia (Gary) Keuschel of Shawano, Gary (significant other, Sue) Eberhard Jr. of Clintonville, Marcia (significant other, Mike) Switser of Shawano; grandchildren, Harrison Keuschel, Zachary (significant other, Kendra) Keuschel, Michael (significant other, Tiffani) Keuschel, Britteny (Shane) Wadsworth, Daniel (Amanda) Switser, Patrick (Kelly) Switser; great-grandchildren, Roland, Athena, Kassidy, Dino, Johann, MacKenzie, and Christopher; a brother Russell Eberhard of Appleton; sisters-in-law, Doris Eberhard, Mary DuBois, Patricia (Dave) Adkins; brothers-in-law Dennis Ward, James (Judy) Ward, Jeffrey (Gabriela) Ward, Charles (Marilyn) Ward, William (Andrea) Ward, Art (Jody) Ward; and mother-in-law Lucille Ward. Gary will also be missed by his many nieces and nephews, other relatives, and many friends. Gary is preceded in death by: his parents Harry and Laurel Eberhard; sister Geneva (Richard) Graham; brothers, Leslie (Millie) Eberhard and Harrison Eberhard; and a sister-in-law Rita Eberhard.

A memorial mass for Gary will be held at 11:00 am on Monday, March 25, 2019 at St. Francis Solanus Catholic Church in Gresham with Fr. Joel Jores officiating. Inurnment will be in the church cemetery in the spring.

Visitation will be held at the church on Monday from 9:30 am until the time of the service. Gary’s family would like to extend their deepest appreciation and thanks to the many wonderful ThedaCare at Home Hospice personnel.
