Margaret’s Obituary Margaret A. Fossum, age 69, of Clintonville, passed away on Sunday, March 10, 2019 in Milwaukee. Margaret was born in Keshena on September 25, 1949, daughter of the late Russell and Christine (Waupekenay) Shegonee. From the age of eight Margaret was raised by Hazel Schmitt whom she considered her mom.

Margi was united in marriage to John Fossum II in Neopit. She worked for Menominee County as the Deputy Clerk of Courts for several years. She loved sports and often watched football, basketball, and the Olympics.

Her family was by far the most important part of her life and she loved supporting her grandchildren, attending numerous sporting events and activities. She was a wonderful mother and Grammy and will be deeply missed. Margaret is survived by: her children, Jennifer Fossum of Green Bay, Jodi (Jon) Opper of Shawano, and John Fossum III of Colorado; and her grandchildren, Briana Fossum, Dahna Fossum, Allen Opper, and Jon “LJ” Opper II.

She is further survived by a brother, Nelson Shegonee as well as numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. She was preceded in death: by her mom, Hazel Schmitt; her biological parents; siblings, Donna Corn, Myron Shegonee, and Marsha Johnson; and her former husband, John Fossum II. A funeral service will be held at the Swedberg Funeral Home in Shawano at 3:00 pm on Saturday, March 16, 2019.

Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery in Peshtigo in the spring. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Saturday from 1:00 pm until the time of the service.
