Obituary for Gary Eugene Linsted Andover, Ohio – Gary Eugene Linsted, age 85, died at his home surrounded by his family on Monday, July 2, 2018. He was born on May 18, 1933 in Andover, Ohio, the son of Florence Jane (Myers) and James Harold Linsted. Gary was a 1951 graduate of North Shenango High School in Espyville, Pennsylvania.

A lifelong area resident, Gary served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. While serving in the military, he spent 18 months in France. On July 27, 1956 he married Genevieve Ann Campbell.

He was an auto auctioneer for 55 years, and also owned and operated Akron Auto Auction and Lin Camp Auto Sales. Gary was an active member of the Andover Christian Church for over fifty-five years. He taught senior high Sunday School for many years, and served as a church elder for over forty years.

He was a member of the Blue Masonic Lodge F & AM. Gary was also a Shriner and belonged to the local American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars. He had a love of old cars and trains, loved to learn new things and was a voracious reader, but most of all Gary loved spending time with his family.

Gary is preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Jill Renee Linsted and a brother, James Linsted. He is survived by his wife of sixty-one years, Genny Linsted of Andover; his children, Randall E. (Shaun) Linsted of Columbus, Ohio and Joan M. (John) Campbell of Toledo, Ohio; his sister, Joanne (Buss) Toy of Saxionburg, Pennsylvania; five grandchildren, Abby (Mike) Aljancic, Kaitlan (Landon) Cassill, Lindsey (Jeremy) Althaus, Tyler (Chalsi) Campbell and Justin (Andrea) Linsted; seven great grandchildren, Everly, Teagan, Paige, Whitman, Genevieve, Beckham and Daphne; as well as his beloved dog, Lola. A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, July 7, 2018 at 2:00 PM at the Andover Christian Church, 150 Stillman Ave.

Andover, Ohio, 44003, with Pastor Robert Gears officiating. Calling hours will be held on Saturday, July 7th from 12:30 PM until the time of service. Memorial contributions may be made to the church or to Sunshine of North West Ohio, 7223 Maumee Western Road, Maumee, OH 43537.
