Gary L. Otto, 77, of Beatrice died at Beatrice Good Samaritan on Wednesday, February 20, 2019. He was born August 18, 1941 at Beatrice and grew up on a farm between Cortland and Pickrell. He attended Otto District #160, Country School.

He married Ruth Oeltjen on September 12, 1970 and they were blessed with three children but later divorced. He married Elsie Whittenburg on March 30, 1979 and they were blessed with three children but later divorced. He did many types of jobs especially those helping out other people.

He was a member of Holy Cross Lutheran Church of Beatrice. He enjoyed fishing, going to sales, his coffee group, drag races and working on mechanical things. Survivors include five daughters, Monica (Ronn) Lauer of Tacoma, WA, Bonita (Miguel) Birge of Aurora, CO, Melissa (Shane) Otto-Shibest of Abilene, KS, Sara (Grant) Buss of Beatrice and Diane Otto of Las Vegas, NV; one son, Kevin Otto of Beatrice; three grandchildren, Joseph Staley, Daniel Otto and Xander Otto; two brothers, Dale (Adonna) Otto of Beatrice and Harold (Carole) Otto of Adams; one sister, Margene Boyce of Lincoln; nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Louis and Grace A. (Leners) Otto. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, February 26, 2019 at 2:00 P.M. at Holy Cross Lutheran Church of Beatrice with Pastor Kathee Forrest officiating. Burial will be in the Evergreen Home Cemetery of Beatrice.

A family prayer service will be held at 1:45 P.M. on Tuesday at the church. A memorial has been established to the family’s choice with Lavern and Shirley Wolken in charge. The body will lie in state at the Fox Funeral Home of Beatrice on Sunday and Monday from 12:00 noon to 8:00 P.M. and at the church one hour preceding the services at the church on Tuesday.
