DeLores Jeanene Dougherty, 89, of Beatrice died Friday afternoon, February 15, 2019 at the Beatrice Community Hospital. She was born on October 29, 1929 at Beatrice and attended Beatrice High School. She married Paul Dougherty on March 13, 1948 at St. Joseph Catholic Church.

She worked as a switchboard operator for Lincoln Telephone and Telegraph for three years and then at BSDC on the switchboard for 22 years, retiring in 1989 as the switchboard supervisor. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church of Beatrice and was a member of a quilting group. She enjoyed her family and all her grandchildren and great grandchildren, quilting, crafts, gardening, cooking, camping and going to the cabin.

Survivors include her husband, Paul of Beatrice; five daughters, Caryn Bales and husband Lewis of Fairbury, Theresa Cass and husband Douglas of Rich Hill, MO, LouAnn Dezort and husband Roger of North Platte, Janet Faxon and husband Steve of Beatrice and Pam Snyder and husband Tim of Roca; two sons, Pat Dougherty and wife Vicki of Lakewood, CO and Mike Dougherty and wife Cheryl of Gilead; 22 grandchildren; 42 great-grandchildren; one brother, Johnny Rudder and wife Mary Lou of Beatrice; numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her son, Rodney; parents, John and Opal Marie Hatley Rudder; one brother, Marvin Rudder and wife Evelyn; two sisters, Patricia Vrtiska and husband Tony and Shirley Rae Robertson and husband Dean. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1:30 P.M. on Wednesday, February 20, 2019 at St. Joseph Catholic Church of Beatrice with Father Robert Barnhill as Celebrant.

Burial will be at St. Joseph’s Catholic Cemetery. A Scriptural Rosary will be held on Tuesday, February 19, 2019 at 6:30 P.M. at St. Joseph Catholic Church of Beatrice. The body will lie in state on Monday from 2:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. and on Tuesday, 8:00 A.M. until 4:00 P.M. with family meeting and greeting friends from 3:00 P.M. to 4:00 P.M. at the Fox Funeral Home of Beatrice.
