Gary Michael Nyman passed away unexpectedly of natural causes on April 7, 2018, leaving a huge hole in the hearts and lives of all who loved him. Mike was born on June 2, 1963, in Fort Bragg, North Carolina, to Hubert Gary Nyman and Sonja Seamons Nyman. He was raised in North Logan, Utah.

Mike was gentle, kind, and generous. He had a huge heart of pure gold and would do anything for those he cared about. He didn’t have any fancy degrees, but he was brilliant.

He taught himself everything… Read More » he knew about computers—and that was a lot! Mike had worked at Gossners for 37 years. Starting out on the line, he worked his way up to IT Director.

For many years, he was an integral part of the company. He kept the machines and computers at the company running smoothly, made sure everyone got paid, and did countless other things—probably many that no one knew he was doing. His passing has left a big hole in the company!

Mike considered the Gossner family and his co-workers a part of his family. Mike was fascinated by the world of law enforcement. As a youth, he often rode along with the police officers.

He always had a scanner going listening to the emergency dispatches. If he heard the address of someone he cared about, he often arrived on the scene first—even before the ambulance! His friends and family always knew who to call when they heard sirens and wanted to know what was happening.

Mike was a devoted son to his mother. He helped care for her during her struggle with Alzheimer’s. He missed her terribly since her passing three years ago, and they are certainly enjoying a sweet reunion!

Following in the footsteps of his Grandpa Seamons, Mike loved to play Santa for the Christmas parties of friends and co-workers. He was good with the children, remembering their names as he sat them on his knee and asked them their wishes and if they had been good that year. Mike enjoyed traveling.

He had been to Russia every year for the past several years, but only once in the winter. He vowed he would never do that again. He has also been to Disneyland, Disney World, or on a Disney Cruise every year for many years with his second family, the Simpers.

We’re not sure if he was a Disney fanatic or just loved seeing Disney through the eyes of “his children”. He always said doing Disney with Alexis was magical. Mike is survived by his sister, Donna Kaye (Stephen) Bell of North Logan, UT; stepmother, Evelyn Nyman of Paradise, UT; half-sister, Nicole Jean (Charles) Lagemann of Sandy, UT; three half-brothers: Timothy Daniel (Bethany) Nyman of Logan, UT; Joshua Joseph (Ashley) Nyman of Orem, UT; and Jason Andrew Nyman of Paradise, UT; five nieces: Alyssa Bell, Kimberly, Julia, Lauren, and Megan Lagemann; his aunts, uncles, cousins, and many dear friends.

He is also survived by his second family, Jason and Dani Simper, and their children, Cole, Alexis, Cameron, and Dane. He was preceded in death by his parents. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Nyman Funeral Home.
