Gary Richard Whalen June 11, 1939 – June 24, 2018 Gary Richard Whalen 79 of Albany, passed away on Sunday morning, at the Mennonite Home. Gary was born in Elgin, IL to Robert Earl and Marjorie Doris (Camper) Whalen. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1956 to 1962.

Gary married Margaret “Peggy” Louise Hurlocker on September 11, 1976 in Petaluma, CA. He worked for thirty years for Southern Pacific and Union Pacific Railroad and was a Rate Clerk when he retired. Gary enjoyed walking and working with computers.

Gary is survived by wife Peggy Whalen of Albany; brother Michael Whalen; and sister Cheryl Beth Rivers of Michigan. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister Audrey Ann Chamberlain. At his request no public service will be held.

Private inurnment will be held at Willamette National Cemetery in Portland, OR. AAsum-Dufour Funeral Home is handling the arrangements (www. aasum-dufour.com).
