Obituary for Gayland Charles Garner Gaffney — Rev. Gayland Charles Garner, 70, passed away on Tuesday, November 20, 2018, at Spartanburg Regional Hospice Home. Born in Gaffney, he was the husband of Pat D. Garner and the daughter of the late Lewis and Edna Garner.

Gayland previously worked in construction and was a member of Cherokee Gospel Tabernacle. He was an ordained minister who loved to serve his church by preaching on on occasion, serving as head deacon, and teaching Sunday School. In addition to his wife, Rev.

Garner is survived by a son, David Garner and wife, Patty, of Cliffside, NC; two daughters, Wendy Tesnear and husband, Stanley, and Charlene Cash, all of Gaffney; five grandsons, Zachary Garner, William Tesnear, Daniel Tesnear, B.J. Blanton, and Davey Blanton; seven great-grandchildren who were very special to him; a sister, Ann Shelton; a half-brother, Robert Presley “Bud” Garner; and two half-sisters, Cheryl Putman and Jennie Painter. The family will receive friends on Friday, 23rd of November, 2018, from 1:00 PM – 2:00 PM at Cherokee Gospel Tabernacle. Funeral services will follow at 2:00 PM with Rev.

Gregg Martin and Mrs. Tracy Cantrell officiating. Interment will be at Clingman Memorial Gardens. His son, David, and his grandsons, Zachary, William, Daniel, B.J. and Davey, will serve as pallbearers.

Memorials may be made to the Cherokee Gospel Tabernacle, 621 4th Street, Gaffney, SC 29340. The family will be at the residence. The Book of Memories is available at www.
