Gene Hudson, age 75, of Hindsboro, IL, passed away Thursday, May 3, 2018. Gene was born July 26, 1942, in Humboldt, IL to Oscar and Pauline (Cherry) Hudson, and remained a lifelong resident of the area. He married Freida Hite, she preceded him in death May 22, 1994.

He worked in agriculture for many years, was a member of the Oakland Masonic Lodge #219, and he loved old cars, tractors, and farming. Gene was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; and one sister: Sandi Wright. … Read More » He is survived by four children: Phillip (Charlene Taylor) Hudson, of Ashmore, IL; Phyllis Hudson of Mattoon, IL; Sheila (David) Maxey, of Ashmore, IL; and Dusty (Stephanie) Hudson of Oakland, IL; his long-time companion: Debbie Neal; her children: Amy (Matt) Turner, of Hindsboro, IL; John (Jennifer) Neal, of Hindsboro, IL; and Kacey (Clay) Dennison, of Hindsboro, IL; two brothers: Bill (Marsha) Hudson, of Oakland, IL; Dave (Vivian) Hudson, of Hindsboro, IL; two sisters: Ruth Vetor of Mattoon, IL; and Linda (Gil) Rowe, of Martinsville, IL; sixteen grandchildren; and sixteen great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held Monday, May 7, 2018 from 4:00-7:00 p.m. at Krabel Funeral Home in Oakland, IL. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, May 8, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home, with burial to follow at Van Voorhis Cemetery in Hindsboro, IL. For those who wish, memorials may be made to the Oakland Food Pantry or the Carle Mattoon Branch Oncology Unit.
