Oak St. Palestine, Texas 75801 BIOGRAPHICAL SKETCH George Dion Davis was born on December 29, 1967 in Palestine, Texas to Charles and Glover and Joyce McGowan Kelley. He was the first of two children. George was raised in Palestine, Texas and graduated with Palestine I.S.D., class of 1986.

George accepted Christ early in life and united with New Beginning’s Church, under the late Bishop W.T. Arthur. He served on the Deacon’s Board and was Treasurer. He married Versia Mathis on February 24, 1996.

This union was blessed with three children. “Sonny Ray” worked for USP as a driver for 25 years. On January 28, 2019 in Conroe, Texas, George left his earthly body to go be with his Heavenly Father.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Gladys and Leroy Davis; mother-in-law, Lauesia Adams; brother-in-law, R.T. Grover. Loving survivors: loving wife of 22 years, Versia Davis; three daughters, Soynoia, Palestine, Texas, Brianna, Tyler, Texas, Deanna, Nebraska; parents, Joyce McGowan-Kelley, Palestine, Texas, Charles Glover, Oakwood, Texas; brother, Darryl Lewis, Palestine, two grandchildren, Charlee and Demari; uncle, James and Patricia Faggett, Palestine, Texas; aunt, Vebrelean Calhoun, Dallas, Texas; sisters-in-law, Elder Debra and Drew Morrow, Tucker, Texas and Beverly Glover, Palestine, Texas, and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
