HOLYOKE: George E. Crowe, 83, of the Elmwood section of Holyoke, passed away on January 15, 2018 at Mont Marie Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center. Born to Ruth (Clark) and George Crowe, George graduated from the former Holy Rosary High School, and played for the Holyoke Catholic football team. After service in the United States Marine Corps during the Korean conflict, George worked at National Blank Book and Nonotuck Wire companies.

A committed Catholic, he was a communicant, successively, at Holy Rosary, Holy Family and Blessed Sacrament parishes. Always cheerful and ready to lend a helping hand, George Crowe was an unassuming man of simple pleasures, liked by all who knew him. In addition to his parents, George was predeceased by his sisters Catherine LaBrecque and Ruth “Sis” Kavanagh.

He leaves to cherish his memory nieces Lynn Osborn and Sharon LaBrecque, a nephew Brian LaBrecque, and several cousins. A funeral service will be held Wednesday, May 16, 2018 at 9:00 a.m. from the Barry J. Farrell Funeral Home, 2049 Northampton Street, followed by a Mass at 10:00 a.m. at Blessed Sacrament Church, 1945 Northampton Street. Burial will be in Saint Jerome Cemetery.

There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate contributions to the Holyoke Soldier’s Home, 110 Cherry St. Holyoke MA 01040 or Blessed Sacrament Parish, 1945 Northampton St. Holyoke, MA 01040.
