HOLYOKE Marcella A. (Schirch) Clark, 97, of Holyoke and Mystic, Connecticut, passed away peacefully on Thursday, June 28, 2018 at Lawrence & Memorial Hospital in New London CT. She was born in Holyoke on Christmas Day, 1920, daughter of the late Raymond A. and Mary A. (Moynihan) Schirch and graduated from Holyoke High School and the former Providence Hospital School of Nursing. A longtime Registered Nurse, Marcella worked for many years at the former Geriatric Authority of Holyoke, retiring as Director of Nursing in 1982.

She belonged to the American Nurses Association, and was a communicant of Blessed Sacrament Church. Marcella was predeceased by her beloved husband, Maurice L. Clark, in March of 2002, as well as her sisters Mary Kane and Barbara Sullivan. She is survived by two sons: Maurice R. Clark and wife Kathleen of Mystic CT, and Michael D. Clark and wife Mieko of Honolulu HI; former daughter-in-law Bernice Ramos Clark; four grandchildren Dora Katie Clark, Maurice Matthew Clark and wife, Tara King Clark, Marcella Rose Clark, and Maya Angela Clark; two great-grandchildren, Elliott and Annabelle Clark; four nieces: Mary Patricia Scagni, Kathleen Kooken, Mary Barbara Grace, and Lynn Matthews, two nephews: George Sullivan and John Kane, and many great nieces and great nephews.

Marcella was a devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She loved to travel with her beloved husband, Maurice, with whom she would make an annual trip to Naples, Fl. Marcella delighted in her grandchildren and great grandchildren, taking pride in their many accomplishments.

Marcella was an avid reader and crossword puzzler. And she never missed Jeopardy. Marcella was an excellent home cook.

She could often be seen on her early morning walks, moving at a brisk pace, through Holyoke and Naples, alike. Marcella lived a long and happy life guided by her Catholic faith, decency and uprightness. She leaves behind the legacy of her family.

She will be missed dearly by all who knew her. The family would like to thank the staff of Lawrence & Memorial Hospital, Floor 4. 200, for their excellent care of Marcella at the end of her life.

The funeral will be held Monday, July 2nd at 9:00 a.m. from the Barry J. Farrell Funeral Home, 2049 Northampton St., followed by a Mass at Blessed Sacrament Church at 10 a.m. Burial will follow at St. Jerome Cemetery. Calling hours will be Sunday from 2 to 5 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Jericho House, 537 Northampton St., Holyoke, Ma.
