HOLYOKE: Stanley F. Jackson, affectionately known as “Butch” when he was young, and then “Jackson” as an adult, 76 of Holyoke, passed away at home on Wednesday, May 9th with his children and grandchildren by his side after succumbing to his short fight with cancer. Stanley was born in Holyoke to Joseph and Jennie (Linko) Jackson. He resided in Holyoke his entire life, except for a short time he and newlywed wife Joan lived in Tacoma, WA.

During that time he served his country in the Army in Vietnam. He is predeceased by his oldest son Larry Jackson and only brother Joseph Jackson. He leaves his wife, Joan (Labonte) Jackson which he married 54 years ago on May 9, 1964.

Daughter-in-law, Laurie Jackson of Springfield and her daughters, Heather, Brittany and Meaghan. Son David Jackson. Grandchildren Andrew, Brian and Laura Jackson all of Holyoke.

Daughter Jennie Padua, her husband Damian, and their children Antonio, Nathan, and Natalia all of Chicopee. Stanley also leaves many nieces and nephews, including his niece Robin Rodowicz who helped with his care, for which his family will be forever grateful. Besides his family his second love was cars.

He spent a lot of time in his garage and worked on the cars of anyone who needed help. His prized possession was his 1963 Studebaker Champ which he fully restored. He attended Holyoke Trade School, spent his adult life working as a car and diesel mechanic.

He was employed for close to 25 years at First National Supermarkets as well as being employed by AMI Truck Leasing. He was a member of the teamsters Local 559. After his retirement in 2004, he and his wife Joan enjoyed attending local classic car cruises and car shows as well as helping and spending time with his children and grandchildren.

He greatly enjoyed hosting their annual Super Bowl and St. Patrick’s Day Parade parties and other family events. Calling hours will be held Tuesday, May 15th from 4 to 7 pm at Barry J. Farrell Funeral Home, 2049 Northampton Street. Funeral services will begin Wednesday, May 16th at 8:30 followed by burial at 10:00 am at the Massachusetts Veterans Memorial Cemetery 1390 Main Street, Agawam.
