Mr. George L. Collins was born March 31, 1941 in Drew, Mississippi to the union of Dewitt and Beatrice Collins. He was the eighth of fourteen children. George attended Amanda Elzy High School class of 1959.

While in school, George was drafted to play for the Dodger’s baseball team. George was employed by Corning Fiber Glass where he retired in 1998 after 35 years of service. George moved to Kansas City, Missouri where he met and married Clemestine Thompson.

From that union, three daughters were born: Valerie, Kimberly, and JaQuell, and one son, Lamar Collins. George accepted Christ at an early age, which has extended for the last 35 years or more at Pentecostal Church of God in Christ under the leadership of Bishop Daniel M. Jordan. George was preceeded in death by his parents, Mr. Dewitt and Beatrice Collins; son, Lamar Collins; grandson, Timothy Wilson, Jr.; five brothers, Nathaniel Collins, Robert Collins, Otha Collins, Dewitt Collins, David Collins, and sisters; Rebecca Fitzpatrick, and Eddye Scott.

George leaves a great legacy behind: wife, Clemestine Collins, three daughters: Valerie Collins, Kimberly Morris (Lee), JaQuell Harris (Clarence), grandchildren: Kalise, Kia, Chere’Amie, Cortland, Shaina, Chainti, Clarence; great-grandchildren: Anthony, Michael, Micah, Gabriel, Gidion, Semaiah, Micheal, and a host of relatives and friends.
