George M. Piazza, 91, of Meadville, passed away September 23, 2018, at Wesbury United Methodist Community. George was born in Meadville, on February 23, 1927, a son of the late Frank and Frances (Giaccone) Piazza. On September 30, 1950, George married Alda Schrecengost.

He was a member of St. Mary of Grace Roman Catholic Church, Meadville. After 43 years of service, George retired from the Finishing Department of the former Talon, Inc. A WW II veteran, George… Read More » entered the US Army on November 23, 1945 and served his country honorably until November 28, 1946, having served in the European Occupation Forces. He was the recipient of the Occupational Medal and Victory Medal.

A life member of Black Ash Sportsman’s Club, he was also a member of ATA (Amateur Trap Association). In addition to his wife, George is survived by two sisters Kay Modras, Roseann Piccolo both of Meadville, a brother Leon Piazza of Maryland, several nieces and nephews. George was preceded in death by three brothers Vincent, Sam and Joe Piazza.

Private services will be held at STEPHEN P. MIZNER FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION SERVICES, INC. , 404 CHESTNUT ST. , MEADVILLE.

George will be laid to rest St. Brigid Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Humane Society of Crawford County, 11012 Kennedy Hill Road, or St. Mary of Grace Church, 1085 Water St., both in Meadville, PA 16335. Share a memory or condolence at www.
