Obituary for George T. Cleveland Jr. George T. Cleveland, Jr., age 90 ½ stepped into the arms of Jesus at 9:00 A.M. on Saturday, May 5, 2018. He was born October 7, 1927 in San Antonio to George Tillman and Athalie (Moon) Cleveland, Sr. In addition to his parents, George was recently preceded in death by his wife, Jimmye Lee. He was also preceded by his sister, Lucille Brady.

He is survived by their three children, Georgialee Cleveland, Richard Warren Cleveland and his wife, Tammy and George T. Cleveland, III; 13 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren. His family is grateful for Charlie Fletcher for his loyalty and friendship. George was a Pastor, Husband, Father, Grandfather, Patriot, Combat War Veteran, Gunslinger, Master Plumber, Golfer, Fisherman, Junior High School Football Coach, Author of books and short stories, Poet and Songwriter, even a Deputy Sheriff, and at least a dozen other descriptive names and talents at which he excelled, on point, in his 90 ½ years on God’s Earth.

At age 12, his father sent him on a 3 week cattle roundup in Mexico where he met the Lord through a traveling preacher man. He attended traditional schooling into high school, where he left his freshman year to join the Military at age 16. His father told the recruiter he was 17 in order to be allowed into the U.S. Navy.

He served his Country fighting WWII in the Philippines, leading a band of 10 Filipino guerilla fighters and he returned home in 1946. His discharge papers show his birthday in error at 10/7/1926. Returning to Harlandale High School, he was swiftly moved through his remaining high school years in less than 4 months.

He later attended Baylor University Seminary. His love of life was matched only by his love for the Lord. His legacy of love for the Lord and teaching others will continue on.

His favorite catch phrase – “Ain’t God good? ! ” will live on in our hearts forever.

SERVICES Visitation will be from 7:00 P.M. to 9:00 A.M. on Friday, May 11, 2018 at Mission Park Funeral Chapels North, 3401 Cherry Ridge Drive. The Service will be at 12:00 P.M. on Saturday, May 12, 2018 at the Fred J. Tips Chapel at Mission Burial Park Dominion North. Interment with Military Honors will follow at the Cemetery.
