George’s Obituary George Windle Turner, 84, of Wylie went to be with his Lord on Monday, March 11, 2019, his family was by his side. George was born Monday, December 24, 1934 in Westminster, Texas to Alvin Harbin and Millie Jane (Boone) Turner. George graduated in 1953 from McKinney High School.

After high school George entered the U. S. Army. George married Wilma Jean Foster and they came to Wylie where they raised their family. George retired from National Oil Well in 1959 where he had been a warehouse man.

This gave him more time to spend tending his livestock, working in his garden and doing some farming. George was a man of strong faith. He had been active in his church for many years serving as a past deacon and elder at the Cottonwood Church of Christ but stepped down when his health began to fail him.

George loved his family and his grandchildren were the light of his life. He enjoyed every minute they spent together, tending the animals and his garden. Surviving George is his wife, Wilma Turner of Wylie; daughter and son-in-law, Brenda Denice and Merritt “Bud” Johnson of Wylie , son and daughter-in-law, Gary Windell and Marta Turner of Longview; mother-in-law, Gladys Foster of Wylie; two sisters, Myrna Allen of Marshall and Patsy Snyder of Allen; as well as his pride and joy, grandchildren, Zach Turner and Marindia Turner and his great grandson, Brayden and his mother-in-law, Gladys Foster of Wylie, numerous nieces and nephews and friends.

Preceding George in death were his parents, Alvin and Millie Turner, a sister, Lana Turner and a brother, Elton “Bud” Turner. Visitation is Wednesday, March 13, 2019 from 6:00 – 8:00 P.M. at Allen Funeral Home. His funeral service will be at the Cottonwood Church of Christ on Thursday, March 14, 2019 at 10:30 A.M. Ministers Jim Hatcher and Eric Hogue will preside.

George will be laid to rest at Restland Memorial Park in Dallas following his service. The family wishes to thank the caring aides and nurses from his Home Health Care, Anchor of Hope Hospice and Dr. Reddy and his staff.
