George Lazerow Waterford: George Lazerow, 90, of Waterford, beloved husband and father, passed away peacefully with his daughters Abby and Ellen and grandson Max at his side at Lawrence and Memorial Hospital in New London on Tuesday April 10, 2018. He was born in New London, September 10, 1927, the son of Jacob and Elizabeth Lazerow. He was a graduate of the Buckley School and Mitchell College in New London.

He was a well-known car salesman in New London, retiring in 2006. In his youth, George worked with his siblings in his family’s grocery store, package store and ice cream store on Blackhall Street. George enlisted in the Navy at the age of 17, where he served from 1945 to 1948 as an aviation storekeeper at naval air stations in Florida.

When he returned from the service, he was the owner of Servo TV on Blackhall Street and played jazz saxophone with several local bands. He married Joan Krieger of Norwich in 1953. George was a distinguished automotive salesman and was honored many times by Chevrolet Legion of Leaders for his success in this field.

He worked tirelessly six days a week as a salesman and fleet manager for several decades, reserving Sundays for family and yard work. George will be lovingly missed by his wife Joan, his daughter Ellen Lazerow and husband Tom Kelly, his daughter Abby Lazerow and husband Steve Granach, grandchildren Max Kelly, Gabe Granach and Olivia Granach, brother Lou Lazerow, sister Shirley Sherman and many wonderful nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sisters Hilda Golden and Florence Barron, his brother Herman Lazerow and his granddaughter Elise Granach.

A graveside service will be held at 12:30 pm on Sunday April 15th at Beth El Cemetery, Lestertown Road in Groton CT. A gathering to celebrate his life will be held at 1:30 pm on April 15th at Crescent Point, 417 Main St, East Lyme (Niantic) CT. Condolences may be shared on George’s memorial page at www.
