Margare Peggy Baloss Fraser , December 17, 1938 — June 26, 2018

Margaret Josephine Balossi Fraser,79, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, June 26, 2018 at her home in Waterford, following a courageous battle against ovarian cancer. Peggy, as she was known to all, was born December 17, 1938 to Marcello and Emma Filosi Balossi in Niantic, CT. She was a “Niantic girl” in her heart and was proud to be a member of the Niantic Center School “Class of ‘52”.

Peggy graduated from New London High School in 1956. She married Terry R. Fraser of East Lyme on August 10, 1957. Peggy’s life can be summed up in three words: faith, family, and friends.

Her faith meant more to her than simply attending mass each week. She lived out her beliefs in everything she did and it was evident in every relationship she had. Her family always knew how deeply she loved them, and they also knew they could depend on her for help, a hug, or a great meal at “Nana’s” table.

Peggy’s circle of friends spans her lifetime, and she was always reaching out to let them know how much she cared for them. Sending cards, phone calls, lunch dates, and later even texting with friends to send love and support to all were just some of the ways she kept her friendships strong. Peggy was actively involved in Girl Scouts in the years that her daughter Debra was growing up.

She spoke frequently about how much that time meant to her, especially the girls that she came to care for in her troops. Peggy is survived by her husband of 60 years, Terry Fraser, her daughter Debra Fraser Blagden of Waterford, and her son Scott Fraser (Candace) of East Lyme, along with the lights of her life, grandchildren Joshua and David Blagden, Alex and Madeline Fraser. She is also survived by her sister Emma Talbot of South Carolina.

Many nieces, nephews, and extended family members also remain to cherish her memory. Peggy was predeceased by her parents and her brother Fred Balossi. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Agnes Roman Catholic Church at 11am on Monday July 2nd.

Burial will be private. There are no calling hours. Thomas Neilan Funeral Home in Niantic are in charge of the arrangements.

The family would like to thank the respectful care given to Peggy in her final weeks by the Hospice workers, as well as the many friends and family members who reached out to brighten her days.
