Obituary – Gerald “Gary” Douglas Young Gerald “Gary” Douglas Young, age 75, of Bullhead City, Arizona, son of Earl Creal Young and Gladys Mae (Mills) Young, was born August 27, 1942, in Alhambra, California and died July 22, 2018, at his home in Bullhead City, Arizona. They made their home in Diamond Bar, California. Gary… Read More » started working for a subsidiary of Rockwell on January 14, 1963. He worked as a benefit specialist at several different Rockwell locations in Southern California over the next 41 years.

Gary retired on March 26, 2004. While working at Rockwell, he met Kathy (Bauman) Douglas. After retirement, Gary moved to Bullhead City, Arizona.

In 2006, Kathy joined him in Bullhead City and they were married on November 7, 2014. Gary enjoyed family trips to Lake Mohave to boat, fish, and meet friends. He participated in the annual dove hunt on September 1 with family and friends for more than 40 years.

He hosted an annual Super Bowl Party with his Mills/Hook cousins for many years. When his children were young, he enjoyed coaching his daughters’ softball teams and his sons’ football team. He always enjoyed playing games like Cribbage, Wahoo, Scrabble, and completing cross word puzzles.

Preceding him in death were his parents, Earl and Gladys Young, and son, Douglas Young. He is survived by two daughters, Deborah Schug and husband, Douglas, of Yorba Linda, California and Sherreen Weisenburg and husband, Jack, of Terrell, Texas; daughter-in-law, Wendy Young of La Habra, California; sister, Sandra Young of Redondo Beach, California; Kathy’s three children, Julie Farrell and husband, Ray, of Menomonee Falls, Wisconsin, Brian Douglas and wife, Tess, of Marrietta, Georgia, and Karen Douglas and wife, Jessica, of Las Vegas, Nevada; six grandchildren, Heather Logan-Hollomon, Lecia Summers, Jessica Schug, Chad Schug, Crystal Siglar, and Christopher Young; nine great grandchildren; Kathy’s five grandchildren; and many other loving relatives and friends. A Memorial service will be held at the Slade – O’Donnell Funeral Home in Leon, Iowa at 10 a.m. Saturday, September 8, 2018, with Pastor Dale Short officiating.

Burial will be in the Decatur Cemetery, Decatur, Iowa.
