Obituary for Gerald Wallace Cherryholmes Gerald Wallace Cherryholmes, age 87, of Pocahontas, Iowa, formerly of Washington, Iowa, died Thursday, April 26, 2018, at the Paula J. Baber Hospice House in Ft. Dodge, Iowa. Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, May 1, 2018, at the Jones & Eden Funeral Home in Washington with Fr.

Bernie Weir officiating. The family will be present to receive friends from 9:30 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday. Military Honors conducted by American Legion Post 29 will be accorded in conjunction with the funeral service.

Interment will take place at the Elm Grove Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials have been established for Unity Point Hospice in Ft. Dodge or as a general memorial for the family.

He attended school in Idaho Falls, Idaho. He served honorably in the United States Air Force from 1951 until 1953 including deployment in support of the Korean War. Gerald was united in marriage to Elizabeth “Betty” Bruty on November 17, 1956.

Gerald lived most of his adult life in Washington, Iowa. He later lived in Ft. Worth, Denton, and Decatur, Texas since 1982.

He worked as a truck driver for Moorman Feed Company and was a Foreman for Hanson Construction and Plano Bridge & Culvert. Gerald enjoyed woodturning and belonged to the Woodturner’s Association in Ft. Worth, Texas.

He is survived by his daughter, Jane Cherryholmes of Mt. Pleasant, Iowa; daughter, Ann Noll of Pocahontas, Iowa; son, David Cherryholmes and wife Robin of Krum, Texas; five grandchildren: Jessica (Travis) Campbell of Story City, Iowa; Bryce (Kalyn) Cherryholmes of Jacksonville, North Carolina; Lora Noll of Pocahontas, Iowa; Colette Cherryholmes of Denton, Texas; and Colton Cherryholmes of Krum, Texas; and six great-grandchildren: Anna, Jasmine and Elizabeth Campbell; Brylyn and Kace Cherryholmes; and Vance Haynes. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Betty in 2006; sister, Mary Jane Cherryholmes in 1936; and brother, Howard Cherryholmes in 2006.
