Obituary for Robert C. Friese Robert C. “Bob” Friese, age 83, of Washington, Iowa, entered into eternal life on Saturday, May 26, 2018, at Halcyon House in Washington, following a lengthy illness. Mass of the Resurrection will be held 11:00 a.m. Thursday, May 31, 2018, at St. James Catholic Church with Fr. Bernie Weir and Fr.
Charles Fladung officiating. Calling hours will begin 3:00 p.m. Wednesday, May 30th at St. James Catholic Church where a prayer service will be held at 4:30 p.m. Wednesday. The family will be present to receive friends from 4:30 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Wednesday evening.
Private family interment with military honors will be at St. Joseph’s Cemetery in East Pleasant Plain, Iowa. Memorials have been established for Hospice of Washington County or the Alzheimer’s Association. The Jones & Eden Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

He attended St. James Catholic School and graduated from Washington High School in 1953. Bob was united in marriage to Winnie Fritz on April 27, 1957, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in East Pleasant Plain, Iowa. Bob served honorably in the United States Army from 1955 until 1957.
He was a lifelong farmer with a strong work ethic which he passed on to his children and grandchildren. In 1966 Bob was awarded the Outstanding Young Farmer award from the Washington Jaycees. He was a member of St. James Catholic Church, the Knights of Columbus and was Past President of the Cattleman’s Association.
Bob was an avid reader and enjoyed country music, going to cattle sales and attending flea markets. When Bob was outside doing chores, he would always be in the company of one of his dogs. He especially enjoyed the time spent with his family, going on vacations, and later in life wintering in Texas with Winnie.
Bob is survived by his wife, Winnie Friese of Washington, Iowa; daughter, Brenda Roth and husband Terry of Grand Island, Nebraska; daughter, Jayne Friese of Washington, Iowa; daughter, Mary Lou Shelangoski and husband Gordon of Brighton, Iowa; son, Dennis Friese and wife Angie of Washington, Iowa; son, David Friese and special friend, Mary Beth Stout of Washington, Iowa; 13 grandchildren, Dustin Roth and wife Ashley; Jordan Roth and fiance Kasey; Tanner Roth; Scott McGuire and wife Fairlight; Alyssa Clarke and husband Blaine and their children Kenzie and Myles; Kylie Schmitt and husband John; Wyatt Shelangoski; Tyler Friese and wife Staci and their children Carson and Cameron; Natalie Horesowsky and husband Justin and their daughter Sydney; Travis Friese; Ben Tebockhorst; Alex Tebockhorst and Ryan Friese. Bob is also survived by his sister, Mary Catherine Escher and husband Warren; sister JoAnn Gent and husband Terry; sister, Donna Mae Moeller and husband Bernard; sister, Marilyn Nebel and husband Bob; sister, Coni Waters and husband Ev; and sister-in-law, Teresa Friese. He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Francis, Willard and Walter Friese; infant sister, Carol Friese; and daughter-in-law, Kim Friese.
