Obituary for Wendell K. Wilson Wendell K. Wilson, age 84, of Wapello, Iowa, died Thursday, June 21, 2018, at the Parkview Home in Wayland, Iowa, following a battle with cancer and congestive heart failure. Celebration of life services will be held 10:30 a.m. Friday, June 29, 2018, at the Marion Avenue Baptist Church in Washington, Iowa, with Pastor Larry Brown and Pastor Joseph Brown officiating. Visitation will begin noon Thursday, June 28, 2018, at the Jones & Eden Funeral Home where the family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Interment will take place at the Crawfordsville Cemetery.

Wendell was born June 8, 1934, in Henry County, Iowa, the son of James and Maurine (Hamilton) Wilson. He attended school in Crawfordsville, Iowa. Wendell was united in marriage to Donna Brauns on November 15, 1953, in Wapello, Iowa.

Wendell owned and operated Wilson Construction in Crawfordsville, Iowa, for many years. He and Donna moved to Lubbock, Texas, in 1981, where Wendell drove over the road truck. Following his retirement, Wendell and Donna moved to Wapello, Iowa.

Wendell and Donna were founding members of Marion Avenue Baptist Church. His life evolved around his church and he lived to glorify the Lord. He was a Deacon and Bus Captain at Marion Avenue Baptist Church.

While in Texas, Wendell was active at Harvest Baptist Church in Edinburg, Texas. Wendell is survived by his son, Jerry Wilson and wife Helen of Crawfordsville, Iowa; daughter, Sheri Barker and husband David of Ankeny, Iowa; four grandchildren: David Wilson of Iowa City, Iowa; Steve Wilson and wife Katie of Conesville, Iowa; Tim Wilson and wife Dana of Olds, Iowa; and Michael Barker and wife Leah of Dallas Center, Iowa; grandson-in-law, Eric Wilmeth of Columbia Station, Ohio; 13 great-grandchildren: Caitlin, Rebecca, Sara, Ben, Wyatt, Paisley, Jase, Faith, Adam, Ethan, Asher, Bailey and Joe. He is also survived by two brothers, Ivan Wilson of Clinton, Iowa; and Larry Wilson and wife Peggy of Greentop, Missouri; as well as one sister-in-law, Judy Wilson of Sun City West, Arizona.
