Obituary for Allan Lucas Allan Clarence Lucas, age 96, of Crawfordsville, Iowa, died Sunday, September 16, 2018, at the Washington County Hospital following a short illness. Celebration of life services will be held 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, September 19, 2018, at the Jones & Eden Funeral Home with Pastor Jason Collier officiating. The family will be present to receive friends from 9:00 until 10:30 a.m. Wednesday.

Interment will take place at Elmwood Garden in Morning Sun, Iowa. In lieu of flowers, memorials have been established for the Alzheimer’s Association or the United Church of Crawfordsville. Online condolences may be sent for Allan’s family through the web at www.

jonesfh.com. Allan was born February 11, 1922, in Des Moines County, Iowa, the son of Harry and Stella (Ruschill) Lucas. He attended school in Sperry, Iowa.

Allan was united in marriage to Betty Caldwell on November 15, 1945. Allan helped on the family farm until he began driving a truck. Allan and Betty moved to Crawfordsville in 1949.

Soon after their move, their first son Ronald was born and three years later their second son, Roger was born. Allan continued hauling livestock until his retirement in 1987. He was a member of the United Church of Crawfordsville.

He owned and showed Hackney Ponies for several years and was a member of the Midwest Hackney Society, Mid-States Hackney Association and the American Hackney Horse Society. He was also a member of the Moose Lodge # 579 in Burlington, Iowa, since 1973. Allan is survived by his wife, Betty Lucas of Crawfordsville, Iowa; son, Ron Lucas of Washington, Iowa; son, Roger Lucas of Crawfordsville, Iowa; eight grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren and three great great grandchildren.

He is also survived by sister, Shirley Granaman and husband Lester of Sperry, Iowa; sister, Erma Baker of Sperry, Iowa; and two sisters-in-law, Jeanne Lucas of West Burlington, Iowa, and Roxanne Lucas of Thompson, Illinois. He was preceded in death by his parents; six siblings:Wilber, Russell, Lloyd and Marvin Lucas, Marcille Walker and Hazel Hightower; and daughter-in-law, Edie Lucas.
