Obituary for Betty Mullikin Betty Jo Mullikin, age 82, of Williamsburg, Iowa, formerly of Brighton, Iowa, passed away on August 26, 2018 at the Highland Ridge Care Center in Williamsburg. Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, September 6, 2018 at the Lake Darling Lodge in Brighton, Iowa. There will be a private interment at Hillcrest Cemetery in Brighton.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established for Friends of Lake Darling. Online condolences may be sent for Betty’s family through the web at www. jonesfh.com Betty was born on June 7, 1936 in Ollie, Iowa, the daughter of Walter and Letha (Ingle) Ruggles.
She attended Brighton High School. On July 4, 1953 she married Glen Mullikin, Jr. and the couple just celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary. Betty and Glen started their married life in Douds, Iowa, then moved to Brighton where they raised their family.
Betty worked for Mullikin Gas & Oil as well as Mullikin Fertilizer & Chemical as a bookkeeper. In the late 1980s, Glen and Betty moved to Bella Vista, Arkansas where Betty obtained her real estate license. After retirement she and Glen moved to Brownsville, Texas.
They returned to Iowa in 1991 to spend time with their family. Betty was a member of the Brighton United Church. Her hobbies included traveling, reading, cooking and golfing.
She was a loyal fan of the Iowa Hawkeyes and the Chicago Cubs. Betty was very proud of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and loved to spend time with them and watch them participate in their activities. She is survived by her husband, Glen Mullikin of Williamsburg, IA; children: Pat (Jeff) Swartzendruber of Swisher, IA; Ron Mullikin of Pea Ridge, AR; Dale (Lori) Mullikin of North Liberty, IA; and Cindy (Brian) Blackburn of Bloomington, IL; 12 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.
