Obituary for Steve Paul Steven Stewart “Steve” Paul, age 55, of Washington, Iowa, died Friday, October 5, 2018, at the Washington County Hospital following a sudden illness. Celebration of life services will be held 2:00 p.m. Monday, October 8th, at the Washington Golf and Country Club with Rev. Rick Zickefoose officiating.

Calling hours will begin noon Sunday at the Jones & Eden Funeral Home where the family will receive friends from 1:00 until 4:00 Sunday afternoon. In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established for an education fund for Steve’s grandchildren. Online condolences may be sent for Steve’s family through the web at www.

jonesfh.com. Steve was born April 30, 1963, in Washington, Iowa, the son of Richard and Mary Ann (Bauer) Paul. He attended school in Washington, Iowa, and graduated from Washington High School in 1981 and later graduated from Ellsworth Community College.

Steve was united in marriage to Beth Bruty on September 27, 1986, in Washington, Iowa. Steve was a lifelong resident of Washington, Iowa. He worked for the past three years as Assistant Manager at Orscheln’s.

He enjoyed fishing, bird watching and golfing. He was Club Champion two times at the Washington Golf and Country Club. Steve was an avid St. Louis Cardinals, Detroit Lions and Iowa Hawkeyes fan.

He especially enjoyed spending time with his family and being “Papa” to his granddaughters. He is survived by his wife, Beth Paul of Washington, Iowa; son, Schuyler Paul of Washington, Iowa; daughter, Whitney Paul of Washington, Iowa; daughter, Paige Paul of Ainsworth, Iowa; daughter, Shannyn Paul of Washington, Iowa; two granddaughters: Layla Hesser and Sadie Paul; father, Richard Paul of Washington, Iowa; brother, Bruce Paul and wife Mary Kay of Ft. Dodge, Iowa; brother, Craig Paul and wife Leslie of Washington, Iowa; sister, Sharon Kleinau and husband Rich of Washington, Iowa; and sister, Debra Brinkman and husband Ivan of Cedar Rapids, Iowa.

Steve is also survived by his father and mother-in-law, Frank and Kirtene Bruty of Washington, Iowa; sister-in-law, Tina Bruty of Washington, Iowa; brother-in-law, Greg “Bud” Bruty and wife Debbie of Washington, Iowa; brother-in-law, Walter Bruty of Washington, Iowa; as well as many nieces and nephews. Steve was preceded in death by his mother in 2003; and grandparents, Walter and Florence Bauer, and Donald and Darlene Paul.
