Obituary for Ferdinand W. Chalupa Ferdinand W. Chalupa, age 90, of Washington, Iowa, passed away Wednesday, December 26, 2018, at the M.L. McCreedy Home in Washington. Celebration of life services will be held 10:30 a.m. Monday, December 31, 2018 at the Jones & Eden Funeral Home with Pastor Colton Clay officiating. Calling hours will begin 11:00 a.m. Sunday, December 30th at the Jones & Eden Funeral Home where the family will be present to receive friends from 1:00 until 3:00 p.m. Sunday and from 9:30 until 10:30 a.m. on Monday.

Interment will be held at Elm Grove Cemetery in Washington. Memorials have been established for Hospice of Washington County or the Grace Community Church. Online condolences may be sent for Ferd’s family through the web at www.

jonesfh.com. Ferd was born August 16, 1928, in Richmond, Iowa, the son of Fred and Olive (Wallace) Chalupa. He attended Mechanic School in Kansas.

Ferd was united in marriage to Dorothy Anderson on January 18, 1953, in Centerville, Iowa. She preceded him in death in 1976. He married Anne Marie Horn on July 22, 1977, in North Liberty, Iowa.

She preceded him in death in 2003. Ferd owned and operated Chalupa OK Tire in Washington. He was a member of the First Christian/ Grace Community Church in Washington.

Ferd enjoyed woodworking, making windchimes and outdoor ornaments. He was an avid Iowa Hawkeye fan and enjoyed visiting with family and friends. He is survived by his step-son, Ben Pennington and wife Barbara of Bettendorf, IA; grandson, Jeffrey Pennington of Bettendorf, IA; two sisters, Jeanette Banks and Norma Loeffler and one brother, Harold “Wayne” Chalupa and wife Joanne all of Washington, Iowa; and a number of nieces and nephews.
