Obituary for Donnie Brinning Donnie J. Brinning, age 67, of Brighton, Iowa, died Tuesday, October 9, 2018, at the University of Iowa Hospital following a short illness. Celebration of life services will be held 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, October 16, 2018 at the United Presbyterian Church in Washington with Pastor Darryl Carr officiating. Calling hours will begin noon Monday at the Jones & Eden Funeral Home where the family will receive friends from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m. Private family interment will take place at Oakridge Cemetery in rural Washington County.

A general memorial has been established. Online condolences may be sent for Donnie’s family through the web at www. jonesfh.com Donnie was born April 30, 1951, in Washington, Iowa, the son of Forrest and Florence (Johnson) Brinning.

He graduated from Keota High School in 1969. Donnie was united in marriage to Mercedes Mae Norman on October 1, 1970, in Washington, Iowa. He served in the Army Reserve for 6 ½ years.

Donnie was a lifelong resident of Dutch Creek Township where he farmed all of his life. He was a Trustee for Dutch Creek Township and a member of the Cattleman’s Association. Donnie enjoyed being outdoors and was an avid hunter.

He enjoyed hanging out with his friends and taking drives with his beloved pet, Mickey. He especially enjoyed the time spent with his grandchildren. He is survived by his wife, Mercy Brinning of Brighton, IA; daughter, Becky Carter and husband Chris of Washington, IA; son, Bryan Brinning and wife Mary of Washington, IA; son, Cameron Brinning of Coralville, IA; six grandchildren: Sadie, Jude and Jocelyn Carter; Brett Brinning, Bryce Brinning and wife Lex, and Breanna Brinning; sister, Margery Soethout and husband Jim of Omaha, NE; brother, Charles Brinning and wife Jeanette of Pleasant Hill, IA; and sister, Marilyn Marcley and husband Harry of Waukee, IA.
