Obituary for Wynona Woods Wynona Mae Woods, age 85, of Corydon, IA, formerly of Washington, IA, passed away Tuesday, September 11, 2018, at Mercy Hospital in Des Moines following a sudden illness. Celebration of life services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, September 17, 2018, at the Jones & Eden Funeral Home in Washington with Pastor Mike Johnson officiating. Calling hours will begin at noon on Sunday, September 16, 2018, at the Jones & Eden Funeral Home, where the family will receive friends from 3:00 until 5:00 p.m. Interment will take place at the Elm Grove Cemetery in Washington.

A memorial has been established for the Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS) Association. Online condolences may be sent for Wynona’s family through the web at www. jonesfh.com.

Wynona was born on September 28, 1932, in Trenton, Iowa, the daughter of Jesse and Dorcus Marie (Ball) Barr. She graduated from Washington High School. Wynona was united in marriage to Rodney Benn Woods on October 7, 1955, in Washington.

Wynona spent most of her life in Washington but also lived in Trenton, Osceola, Grinnell and Corydon. She worked for the City of Washington as a meter reader until her retirement in 1991. She was a member of the First Assembly of God Church in Washington and later attended Faith Baptist Church and First Christian Church in Washington.

She enjoyed crocheting and doing crafts. She is survived by her daughter, Cynthia Jo Woods of Ainsworth, IA; son, Michael Dean Woods of Bayreuth, Germany; daughter, Victoria Lynn Sharp and husband Randy of Corydon, IA; son, Jeffrey Dean Woods and wife Tammy of Crawfordsville, IA; 14 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and sisters: Veda Secrest, Alice Hesser and Hazel Sinn, all of Washington, IA. Wynona was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Rodney in 1993; brother, William Barr; brother, Roger Barr; and three brothers-in-law: Gordon Secrest, James Hesser and Jim Sinn.
