Obituary for Connie Allender Connie Jean Allender, age 71, of Washington, Iowa, died Friday, July 13, 2018, at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City. Celebration of life services will be held 10:30 a.m Thursday, July 19, 2018, at the First Assembly of God Church in Washington with Pastor Dave Watson officiating. Calling hours will begin noon Wednesday, July 18th, at the Jones & Eden Funeral Home where the family will receive friends from 5:00 until 7:00 Wednesday evening.

Interment will take place at Elm Grove Cemetery at a later date. A general memorial has been established. Online condolences may be sent for Connie’s family through the web at www.

jonesfh.com Connie was born July 17, 1946, in Washington, Iowa, the daughter of Kenneth and Opal (Moore) Goodwin. She graduated from WACO High School and attended Burlington Beauty Academy in Burlington, Iowa. She was united in marriage to Donald Franklin Allender on May 29, 1965, at the Washington Christian Tabernacle in Washington, Iowa.

Connie lived all of her adult life in Washington, Iowa, where she was co-owner of Carson Plumbing and Heating from 1972 until 2012. For the past several years, she was the Church Secretary at First Assembly of God Church where she worked until her passing. Connie enjoyed cooking and baking and always made sure all family and guests were well fed.

She is survived by her daughter, Angie Egbert and husband Dan of Plano, Iowa; son, Jim Allender and wife Leslie of Washington, Iowa; six grandchildren: Jared Reed and significant other Emily of Washington, Iowa; Jacquelyn Nelson and husband Curtis of Bend, Oregon; Jacob Reed of Washington, Iowa; Tiffany Allender of Tiffin, Iowa; Tristan Allender of Washington, Iowa; Sam Ackerman of Washington, Iowa; three great grandchildren: Wyatt Reed, Kayden Reed and Leelah Gail. She is also survived by her three brothers, Jerry Goodwin and wife Marilyn of Omaha, Nebraska; Steve Goodwin and wife Ann of Mesa, Arizona; and Dan Goodwin and wife Linda of Mesa, Arizona; and three sisters-in-law, Kathy Goodwin of Washington, Iowa; Patsy Goodwin of Glendale, Arizona; and Connie Wheelan and husband Tom of Washington, Iowa; as well as many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Don in 2017; four brothers: Gearold Goodwin, John Goodwin, Ray Goodwin and his wife Sarah, Mark Goodwin; and an infant sister, Dorothy Goodwin.
